Calgary-based artist Myke Buckingham presents his solo exhibition of 2D + 3D works titled Language Management & Reclaimed Information installed at The Peanut Gallery, a gallery space located within Fluevog Shoes on the lower level of the store on Stephen Avenue. Like the majority of exhibition-based artists, the reality of a traditional gallery experience quickly became an impossibility due to public gallery closures but Buckingham pivoted his exhibition to engage with audiences both virtually and in the physical space when restrictions are lifted.

“The new show is a collection of my sculptural 3D work along with my 2D painting work and it’s a connection between found object and language...language in both a cultural and individual vocabulary, how we manage language on our own, how we interact collectively and how we create our own interpretations of language.”

Incorporating elements of his decades-long graffiti practice, Buckingham curates and presents a series of works in Language Management & Reclaimed Information using a range of found, handmade, manipulated and digitally-manufactured materials. Inspired by his own experience with Dyslexia, Buckingham challenges our interpretation of language through form and shape.
